My favorite part about hockey is definitely my team. They are the reason I love the sport so much. Every day, no matter how bad it was, is always better once I get to the rink. The team atmosphere is so cheerful and smiley and it really does feel like we all want to be there. I love when everyone is working their hardest because we all are so determined and you can tell we are all there for the same reason. The best part about our team is how close and comfortable we are with each other. We are a family, we can tell each other anything and aren't afraid to be ourselves. My team is what I play for, they are the reason I wake up at 5am, spend all summer in the garage, lose sleep from staying up finishing homework. And it's all worth it because I get to have the time of my life with my best friends.:) Hockey would not be the same without them!!
The coaches are also a huge part of our team. They make us feel comfortable and allow us to share our opinions and talk to them. Each coach brings something unique to the team. My favorite thing about Coach Malecek is how hockey smart she is and how much she can influence us. She really does know the game and what she is doing and players listen to her and take what she says to heart. Coach Lunderby is the most considerate but at the same time he is strict and keeps us in line. You know in the end he wants the best for us all and it’s so great having such a huge supporter as your coach. Coach Preisler always keeps a positive attitude and pushes us to keep going. I’m glad he is part of the coaching staff this year and looking forward to being around him more. And lastly, Coach Johnson puts so much time and effort into our team and I love having someone who cares so much about all of us. She cares about each of us as people not just hockey players and it really changes the feel of the game and makes us all love it that much more. Every one of the coaches puts so much of their own time into our program and I am so thankful for what they’ve done for me and our team.
I love game day! The team's mentality going into each game is focused but also hyped! We all get so excited for each game. Just writing this I am getting so excited for the season! My goal as an individual this year is to be a great leader and help our team as much as I possibly can. I will strive for a good, positive atmosphere in the locker room and make sure everyone is having a good time and knows they are an important part of the team. I hope we all stay close and don't ever get down on ourselves, or our team. I hope we reach our final goal to make it to state and I hope we all just put our hearts out there this season. This being my last season, I will not take any of it for granted. My team means the world to me and I am so thankful to be a part of this and I will cherish every second of it! Cannot wait to have the best season ever with the best team ever!
